Setting up a new primary care clinic can be arduous. Hoda Mankal, a nurse practitioner in Ottawa, was put in touch with OMD Advisor, Krystina Spagnuolo, for guidance on choosing an EMR for a start-up primary care clinic. With no office space or chosen location, a full buildout was needed to help get the clinic off the ground. Krystina called in fellow OMD Advisor, Glenn Boone, for his technological expertise.

The result

After discussing key factors critical to selecting the right EMR, Krystina provided several demos of certified EMRs and mapped out clinical workflows, supporting Hoda toward an EMR decision. Picking up the baton, Glenn met with Hoda to discuss electronic hospital information systems and share technical guidance on network configurations, telephone systems, data migrations, and performance criteria. Krystina and Glenn scheduled regular check-ins with Hoda and the clinic team over the next several months, continuing to provide support and value-added services, such as troubleshooting assistance throughout the clinic’s digital health journey.
