Real clinician stories from the Ontario AI Scribe Program
For many clinicians, charting and documentation continue to take time away from what matters most: patient care. But across Ontario, clinicians are finding a way to reclaim those hours with help from the Ontario AI Scribe Program, established by the Ministry of Health and Ontario Health.
The program provides clinicians with access to pre-qualified, secure AI scribes carefully vetted for use in Ontario. As more physicians implement an AI scribe in clinical practice, you can learn from them about the tool’s impact firsthand.
A family clinician’s resolution to save time

For Dr. Ali Damji, a family physician in Mississauga, adopting an AI scribe started as a New Year’s resolution to find a way to bring joy back to his practice. Through the Ontario AI Scribe Program, he trialed a few AI scribes until he found the right solution that helped streamline his workflow, save time each day, and enhance the patient experience.
“… I’m more engaged in [patient] encounters – I’m now able to look them in the eye and not have to be distracted by a computer…”
In his video, Dr. Damji explains how using an AI scribe has supported patients by creating direct referrals and generating care plans in their preferred language. By experiencing how an AI scribe can make a difference for his patients and colleagues, he encourages other clinicians who haven’t tried one yet to take the leap.
Feeling secure and confident with an AI scribe

Dr. Usha Parthasarathi, a psychiatrist in Burlington, knew she needed support to keep pace with hours of documentation each day, and patient privacy was non-negotiable to her. In her testimonial, she shares her appreciation for the program’s rigorous vetting of AI scribe technologies and confidence in using the tool in her community-based clinic. By reducing her notetaking time, Dr. Parthasarathi can focus fully on patients – increasing her consultation load and improving the flow of information between herself, her patients, and their family physicians.
“It’s really given me control on information that goes out of my clinic…and allows me to look at my patient instead of looking at notes.”
Through the Ontario AI Scribe Program, she found a tool compatible with her practice needs, without having to worry about the finer details of security or the legal details in the contract. Dr. Parthasarathi urges her fellow physicians to get started – for both their present and future.
