Amanda Robitaille, OMD Practice Advisor

OntarioMD (OMD) offers support and services so clinicians and their staff can better leverage their digital health technology to streamline workflow and reduce workload. (OMD’s services are free if you use a certified EMR.)

Often, during conversations with clinicians, our Practice Advisors discover a new opportunity to assist. On a recent call, Amanda Robitaille, Practice Advisor, who assists clinicians in the Ontario Health Central Region, had an opportunity to go above and beyond for a clinician.

“As we were wrapping up a discussion about AI scribes, a clinician mentioned that in the near future he is looking to retire and despite all the available online resources he had some questions about what to do regarding his digital assets like the EMR,” shared Amanda.

While not part of OMD’s usual offering, Amanda wanted to help this clinician and reached out to her team. Learning that one of our OntarioMD Peer leaders had recently retired, Amanda reached out to Dr. McLaren.

OMD Peer Leader Dr. McLaren was willing to share his retirement journey and provide insight for this clinician wading through the complex navigations of how to manage this transition.

Dr. McLaren, OMD Peer Leader

“He reached out as part of his due diligence with planning for retirement. Our spirited session dug through all the issues that arise in closing an office and moving into a new phase of life. With his great preparation as a foundation for discussion, we were able to generate some creative solutions for potential ‘what-ifs’ that may arise, and put a ribbon on his plans,” shared Dr. McLaren.

OMD’s Peer Leader Program supports community-based clinicians in their digital health journey with guidance and advice from expert users of OMD-certified EMRs, AI, digital health and virtual care tools. OMD Peer Leaders include clinicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and clinic executives who share their knowledge on digital health tools through mentorship, education, workshops, and other outlets.

Practice Advisors are here to support you with more than just OMD’s core services. Whether you’re navigating a transition, exploring new options, or simply unsure where to begin, your Practice Advisor is your trusted resource. Even if it’s outside of OMD’s direct scope, we’ll help connect you to the right people or information.
